An ongoing issue. [25 Dec 2009|06:23pm]

I will finally admit that I am godawful at posting on Livejournal.

I still use it everyday (checking friends pages/journals/communities), but I can't bring myself to write in it anymore. My personal journal depresses me a bit - I'm sure I might eventually get over it, but for now, no writing here.

I am in a constant state of transition right now and my Livejournal was my stable friend. So I am bailing on that friend (make sense? NO. Anyway, moving on...)

If you desire some of my online company, I am generally over at:

http://no-dairy-no-eggs.tumblr.com/

Tumblr is fun and feels less commitment-y feeling than Livejournal right now. It's easy to post, easy to watch, and if you like pictures, I'm your gal. I recommend signing up, if only because posts tend to look better in Dashboard than on individual pages.

Angry customer [23 Dec 2009|12:33am]

fromthewall
I just called and yelled at Rogers for the first time... and it worked!

Oh, I've had my share of two-hour phone calls before where I was left frustrated and exhausted, but never have I raised my voice to someone at Rogers or Bell. This time I basically just lost my temper. After an hour and a half on the phone in November, after which I thought everything was set and ready to go for transferring my services effective today, I more or less lost my shit when it turned out that things were not set and ready to go today.

The result? The customer service rep (not the technical support guy, mind you -- he was utterless useless to me) got both my cable and internet working when tech support said it would be at least one day, and she credited me my reactivation fee. And I was only on the phone with her for about 20 minutes (including holding for 12 minutes).

I bet I've used up all my consumer good luck with this one call. It feels so good to have something resolved for once. Though I'm sure that this is not the moral of the story that anyone who works in customer service would want me to learn from this ordeal, I believe that all of this just goes to show that yelling does work.

My yelling technique is unstoppable. Not flat-out screaming, but a winning combination of a loud and very firm tone of voice that lets the CSR know you're at your wit's end + the odd leading question with irrefutable logic thrown in ("from my understanding of how this problem originated, there was nothing that I should have actioned on my end; you failed to follow your own internal procedures, correct?") + and always staying polite ("pleases" and "thank yous" and also referring to the previous incompetents as "the lady named Natasha" and "the gentleman in tech support").

Thigh-high boots [15 Dec 2009|09:14pm]

fromthewall
I have just acquired a pair of black (p)leather thigh-high boots. Due to their pleatherness, they were a steal. I am very, very pleased with myself.

There's this one woman at work who insists that you can't wear thigh-high boots and not look trampy. While this sounds totally logical and I tend to agree based on seeing other women try, damned if I'm not going to try to prove her wrong. Our workplace recently instituted "Jeans Friday" (probably about six months ago). Lots of people have been interpreting this to mean jeans-plus-sneakers-or-hiking-boots-or-whatever-the-hell-crappy-shoes-i-have-sitting-at-the-bottom-of-my-closet. I figure I can push the envelope a little bit in my own way, by busting out my thigh-highs with a pair of black skinnies this Friday!

The worst that can happen is I get my wrist slapped, so I'll stuff a pair of flats in my purse just in case. I know they value me too much to let a little trampiness ruin things.

Shall report back on results. It is so sad that the prospect of sticking it to the man in even the slightest sense with my fashion choices makes me mildly giddy with anticipation. Rebel without a cause. ^_^

D&G [15 Dec 2009|05:34pm]

Ahahahahaha, I just saw a TV ad for Dolce & Gabbana's The One For Men featuring Matthew McConaughey. So OTT! Totally reminds me of that Friends episode... Hombre for Men?

Maybe I should be tweeting this instead. Hardly something I need a lasting record of in my LJ. ^_^

Barack and Michelle [14 Dec 2009|06:23pm]

Watching the Oprah White House Christmas special.

I love Barack and Michelle. Their relationship is amazing. The way they still look at each other and interact with each other... it is truly beautiful.
